The cradle of Free America
The name Massachusetts comes from the name of the Indian tribe Massachusett ("masa" - "big" and "wachusett" - "mountain"). In November 1620 English ship "Mayflower" arrived to this coast. There were only 106 people. They came here in the hope of the new life, but only the half of them had survived the first winter in their new home. Places, somehow connected with battles, Constitution, Independence declaration are called "Freedom Trail". It includes Boston Common Park, monument to the heroes of the battle with English troops at Bunker Hill, The State House, Granary Burying Ground cemetery, Benjamin Franklin statue.
