A Better Flag Wire

Few things are better than the feeling one gets when hoisting the flags up the rigger at the end of the day and showing off to the fleet your catch of the day. With any luck this chore becomes a regular part of your daily routine. I have been fortunate to experience this wonderful feeling on a daily basis by traveling to some of the world's best fishing grounds and working with a few of the sport's best captains. Here is a trick I have used on hundreds of flags over the years.

Card Consolidation Credit Debt First, get rid of the wimpy, brittle strands of copper rigging wire used to hold most temporary flags. A heavy-gauge solid-strand wire with a plastic coating works the best. The key is to select a wire that is slightly difficult to bend but that once bent will stay bent. Tightly attach one tag end of a 4-inch piece of wire to the corner of the flag. The remaining 2- to 3-inch tag end can be held against the rigger mono and twisted firmly around with even, open spacing. The theory is that once this is set up on all your fish, quarantine or cocktail flags, you never have to twist the wire again. Just wrap and unwrap the mono from the corkscrew-shape wire section. The friction from the plastic coating against the mono anchors it solidly without the possibility of slipping. The benefit of only having to make two quick wraps at each end of every flag saves time better spent cleaning up or waving to the crowd of envious

I didn’t have a chance to fully disassemble this AEG; I did have a chance to take a look at the wiring harness when I was changing the battery. I have not seen such good quality wiring in any AEG I have handled stock. The previous G&G AEGs of this price range are usually loaded with high quality internal components. Stock gear set that blows Mauri away IMO, 8mm Bearing bushings, Bearing spring guide and piston head, 6.04mm tight bore barrel all stock.
